APRIL HIGHLIGHTS
The annual bid process for chemicals, sludge hauling and domestic services was completed in April. Bid awards were approved at the March Board meeting. The bids for dewatered sludge will be ready for approval at the May Board meeting.
The dewatering process for the sludge disposal began in March. As of this date, Synagro has emptied one tank. This will allow the grit and debris to be removed from the tank so that it can be inspected and cleaned.
The major overhaul to Generator #1 is near completion. Charles Equipment has brought the generator to take it back to KRMA for installation and testing.
Joliet Boiler & Welding completed the repairs to the boiler in Building 60. The old tubes were removed, new ones installed and any leaks were repaired.
The Asset Management project is continuing and Clever Monkey Media has been working on a training film for the various plant areas and the new equipment.
During April, operations and maintenance staff completed 658 scheduled /preventative maintenance work orders and 386 repair orders. At the end of April there were 163 open work orders. There are approximately 161 open work orders at this time.
INFLUENT FLOW
Table 2.1 summarizes total flow and average daily flow to the facility from each municipality.
ODOR ISSUES
There were no odor complaints during April.
EFFLUENT QUALITY
Table 3.1 summarizes the effluent quality data.
SAFETY
Safety training by the (IPRF) Illinois Public Risk Fund was held on April 24, 2007. KRMA Staff attended the training seminar for back safety and prevention of back strains.
The grant in the amount of $1,300.00 has been received from the IPRF and was used to purchase additional safety training DVD’s.
PERSONNEL
Employment ads were run in the Kankakee Daily Journal for a Maintenance Mechanic and an Operator. These ads will run Sunday and Wednesday until May 11, 2007.
Interviews will be scheduled for selected candidates in May.
