NOVEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

KRMA's November Highlights

KRMA Staff continue to work with Meccon, Tyson Engineering, and Strand Associates to clear up any remaining issues left open on the wastewater treatment plant improvement project. Some of the issues remaining include the digester flare settings, BioRem motor overheating in Building 15, and wiring issues with the GBT’s (Gravity Belt Thickeners).
Triple R Equipment will begin work on the DAFT #1 (Dissolved Air Floatation Thickener) in mid-December. They will be removing the existing skimmer flights (33) and installing the replacement skimmer flights. The flights were purchased through Motion Industries.
Holohan Heating repaired the heating coil in Building 55. This work involved repairing the corrosion and leaks on three air handler heating coils and replacing two vibration eliminators.
Liberty Fire Equipment completed the annual fire extinguisher inspection. A few units were recharged and replaced.
Charles Equipment will begin a major overhaul on Generator #1 in December. This generator has not been in optimal condition for over a year. A major overhaul is performed every 21,600 equipment meter hours and was last done on Generator #1 in 1998.
The two chopper pumps in Building #20 are to be replaced. One pump has been ordered from Ley & Associates, Inc., and will be installed by Glade Plumbing and Heating Co.
Continental Farms removed 1,350,000 gallon of sludge during the month of November. Sludge removal will continue when the weather permits.
During November, operations and maintenance staff completed 274 scheduled /preventative maintenance work orders and 92 repair orders. At the end of November there were 184 open work orders. There are approximately 132 open work orders at this time.

ODOR ISSUES
There were no odor complaints received this month. The new chemical and biological units are operating as planned.
EFFLUENT QUALITY

SAFETY
The Safety Team met on November 28, 2006, to review the new equipment safety inspection that was done on October 24th. The Safety Team will also be reviewing the current safety incentive program and developing a new program for 2007.
The Illinois Public Risk Fund (IPRF) has notified KRMA that we are eligible to receive a $1,300.00 grant for the safety and educational program. The application must be returned to the IPRF by March 15, 2007.
Al Crenshaw is the safety award winner for the month of November.
PERSONNEL
Dan Combs began working with KRMA on November 1, 2006, as a Wastewater Operator. Dan is continuing his wastewater training at this time.
