KRMA'S October Highlights

KRMA's OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS
KRMA Staff continue to work with Meccon, Tyson Engineering, and Strand Associates to clear up any remaining issues left open on the wastewater treatment plant improvement project.
Mosely Construction, Inc. completed repairs to the various asphalt areas that were damaged during the construction project.
Triple R Equipment will begin work on the DAFT #1 (Dissolved Air Floatation Thickener) in December. They will be removing and installing the skimmer flight assemblies and replacing the attachment pins, cotter pins, and washers as necessary. In an effort to keep costs down, KRMA staff will drain and clean the DAFT unit prior to the start of the project and also dispose of any replaced components.
The installation of the Bradley flume meter is progressing. Electric and phone service have been established for the meter.
Simms Engineering Ltd. is continuing to work on the Asset Management Project.
The interviews for the wastewater operator position have been completed. The candidate selected was Dan Combs who has a background in water and wastewater treatment. He is scheduled to begin work on November 1, 2006.
During October, operations and maintenance staff completed 298 scheduled /preventative maintenance work orders and 109 repair orders. At the end of October there were 138 open work orders. There are approximately 157 open work orders at this time. The KRMA maintenance and The installation of the Bradley flume meter is progressing. INFLUENT FLOW
ODOR ISSUES:
There were no odor complaints received this month. The new chemical and biological units are operating as planned.

SAFETY
The Safety Team met on October 24, 2006, and did a safety inspection of the new equipment. There were a few concerns that are being addressed. However, Building #62, the storage digester building, is in need of considerable repair.
Charles McDaniel is the safety award winner for the month of October.
PERSONNEL
The interviews for the wastewater operator position have been completed. Dan Combs was selected as the wastewater operator. Dan has a background in wastewater and water. He will begin work on November 1, 2006. Dan’s background and enthusiasm will be an asset to KRMA.

SLUDGE HANDLING
The total amount of sludge at the end of October was 3,405,744 gallons.
