KRMA’S NOVEMBER HIGHLIGHTS
During November, BC Systems rebuilt the air dryer in the Generator Building #65. Earlier this year, the air dryer in the Generator Building #65 was scheduled for an annual inspection by Enpro. Their inspection indicated that a new drain valve should be installed on the wet air receiver tank.
The E-waste facilities in Kankakee and Bradley began accepting e-waste this month. KRMA has been receiving phone calls from the public requesting additional information on the facilities and types of e-waste involved.
On November 26, a new oil cooler was installed on Generator #2 by the KRMA staff. The staff also worked on the Generator #1 heat exchanger.
Robert Latham, Maintenance Coordinator, will be retiring from KRMA on January 4, 2008. Jim Rigney, Maintenance Technician, will also be retiring from KRMA on the same date. A celebration is planned for both individuals on January 2, 2008. KRMA extends a sincere thank you to Bob and Jim for their hard work and dedication.
The Kankakee Valley Environmental Group has been contracted to assume the additional duties of the Maintenance Coordinator position in addition to the Superintendent and the Operations Supervisor positions.
During November, operations and maintenance staff completed 203 scheduled /preventative maintenance work orders and 105 repair orders. At the end of November there were 134 open work orders. There are approximately 145 open work orders at this time.
INFLUENT FLOW
Table 2.1 summarizes total flow and average daily flow to the facility from each municipality.
ODOR ISSUES
There were no odor complaints during November.
SAFETY
Jack Renchen is on a workers’ compensation leave due to a slip/fall which resulted in an injury to his right knee. At this time, his surgery has been scheduled for January 8, 2008.
PERSONNEL
Jerry Bennett continues on Family Medical Leave until approximately the end of November due to a knee injury.
Jim Rigney is on an unpaid leave until January 4, 2008, at which time he is to retire.
Negotiations for the union contract began on October 31, 2007. The next scheduled meeting is on December 5, 2007.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
Hours of work in the maintenance department:
Hours of Scheduled Work Orders Performed: 256
Hours of Repair Work Performed: 236
Hours of Corrective Work Performed: 11
Hours of Training (includes safety training): 27
Hours of Safety Upgrades Performed: 4
SLUDGE HANDLING
The total amount of sludge at the end of November was approximately 1,950,000 million gallons.
