KRMA’S OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS
During October, KRMA Staff continued to work with MidAmerican Energy and ComEd representatives to clarify the electric charges by MidAmerican Energy to KRMA. At this time, KRMA is paying two MidAmerican electric invoices per month and should be back to a normal billing cycle by the end of December.
Clever Monkey Media is working with Art Strother to produce training DVD’s for KRMA. Once the project is completed, the DVD’s will provide training for any new hires and review material for other KRMA staff members.
Pete Schiel, PAS Consulting is continuing data collection on the solar/wind generation study. Once the data is compiled, KRMA will have a better understanding to determine if implementation of solar or wind power generating equipment is a viable option.
Operations and Maintenance staff began utilizing the time distribution worksheet. This will enable better utilization of work time and work order processing and is part of the new performance appraisal and development evaluation system.
KRMA staff worked on preparing equipment and heating systems for the upcoming cooler weather. During October, operations and maintenance staff completed 203 scheduled /preventative maintenance work orders and 122 repair orders. At the end of October there were 158 open work orders. There are approximately 157 open work orders at this time.
INFLUENT FLOW
Table 2.1 summarizes total flow and average daily flow to the facility from each municipality.
ODOR ISSUES
There were no odor complaints during October.
EFFLUENT QUALITY
Table 3.1 summarizes the effluent quality data.
SAFETY
Jack Renchen is on a workers’ compensation leave due to a slip/fall which resulted in an injury to his right knee.
KRMA staff members received safety training on wearing hard hats, eye protection and hearing conservation during the bi-weekly tailgate training.
PERSONNEL
Jerry Bennett is on Family Medical Leave until approximately the end of November due to a knee injury.
Jim Rigney is on an unpaid leave until January 4, 2008, at which time he is to retire.
Negotiations for the union contract began on October 31, 2007.

Hours of Training (includes safety training): 22
Hours of Safety Upgrades Performed: 6
SLUDGE HANDLING
The total amount of sludge at the end of October was approximately 1,600,000 gallons.
