KRMA’S AUGUST HIGHLIGHTS
In August, Triple R Equipment began working on Final Clarifier #4. They will be rebuilding, abrasive blasting and re-coating the driveassembly, replacing the skimmer assembly and sludge manifold seals. In addition, operations and maintenance training will be provided for the KRMA staff.
Also, M & M Sheet Metal, Inc. replaced the duct and fittings serving the outside air intake in Building #55. Once this work was completed, KRMA staff re-installed the re-built exhaust fan.
Strand Associates is working on the system master plan for the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system. They are also working on the Corrective Action Plan to satisfy the IEPA Violation Notice W-2007-00205.
Clever Monkey Media continued working on the training DVD’s. Once this project is completed, these DVD’s will be a training and procedure source for the KRMA operators.
The summer interns have returned to college. However, Christopher Thompson is working on a part-time basis to assist with the lawn care at KRMA.
During August, operations and maintenance staff completed 302 scheduled /preventative maintenance work orders and 90 repair orders. At the end of August there were 142 open work orders. There are approximately 113 open work orders at this time.
INFLUENT FLOW
Table 2.1 summarizes total flow and average daily flow to the facility from each municipality.
ODOR ISSUES
There were no odor complaints during August.
EFFLUENT QUALITY
Table 3.1 summarizes the effluent quality data.
SAFETY
No safety meeting was held in August.
Chlorine training is scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2007. Harris & Ford is currently the vendor who supplies chlorine to KRMA and will be presenting the training.
“Tailgate Safety Training” is presented to the KRMA staff at every other Friday morning meeting. This type of safety training covers a variety of topics in a brief fifteen to twenty minute format.
PERSONNEL
Nick Scheppler has reached the end of his 90 day probationary period. He will be on military leave in September through early October.
Adrian Davis is continuing his maintenance training and will reach his 90 day probationary period in September.

SLUDGE HANDLING
The total amount of sludge at the end of August was 1,750,000 gallons.
